On February 8th & 9th, I had the pleasure of attending the Major County Sheriffs Association (MCSA) 2024 Winter Meeting in Washington, DC. The gathering was an important step in the discourse on the evolving relationship between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. With a focus on building public trust and ensuring the alignment of law enforcement strategies with community priorities, the meeting underscored the importance of responsive and transparent policing practices. The meeting, the first convened under the leadership of MCSA President, Santa Barbara Sheriff Bill Brown, whose vision for the future of law enforcement emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and community engagement.
